Wanted! updates

Incorporated three more charts and related person data into the Wanted! page:
- Andrew and John, sons of William and Isabella (Scott) SINTON
- John SINTON (married Margaret KAY, and believed to be a son of James & Janet (Oliver) SINTON of Southdean.
Representatives from either of the lines of Andrew and John would be great to help define William's dna fingerprint
And a representative from John's line should confirm his place on the Southdean tree

12th: More results in for Southdean lineage 1

The upgrade results to 37 markers for Stephen (S-3) are in, and have been included in the Results table.

The colour coding on the Results table has been changed to reflect that the "usual" result for marker 449 now looks as if it is 30, rather than the 31 that I had previously assumed when we had fewer tests to compare.

WFN Updates - Lineage 1a

Made a few updates to the SINTON DNA Project pages, including:
- correcting the pedigree shown for patriarch William (I'd missed out son John, which connected one line up to the wrong son of William and Isabella).
- assigning William and Isabella to Lineage 1a

Also added William to the Wanted! list to reinforce that although we do indeed have a representative of William and Isabella (SCOTT) SINTON's line, it would be good to see where the discrepancies with the Southdean line crept in, before or after William.

Another match! Jedburgh to Southdean

Preliminary results are just in (hot off the press) for the 4th kit, that of a descendant of the Jedburgh SINTONs, William and Isabella (SCOTT) SINTON, who married Hawick c 1804.

12/12 marker match with the Lineage 1 Southdean Sintons.
The 26-37 marker results are also available, and show a couple of markers different to the Southdean lineage 1; The 13-25 marker panel still to come.

Results page and the Roy's pages on the DNA Projects Portal updated but as yet, nothing else.

It would still be good to get a distant cousin of Roy's into the project to see whether the markers showing different to the Southdean ones are a pattern for the Jedburgh Sintons or not. Any takers? Remember that there are discounts until the end of December if you join via the project.

30th: Wanted! / test discounts

Well I didn't check all the links in the Sinton Lineages section that well.
Several more fixed.
And fingers crossed, we seem to be no longer blocked as a potential spam blog.

Wanted! page has been updated to include the lineage of the Cairncross Sintons, another Southdean and Jedburgh family.

Any of you out there reading this?

You, and any other Sinton males who might be considering joining the project to help identify the assorted lineages may be interested to know that until the end of December FamilyTreeDNA are offering Christmas specials on new tests ordered, so if anyone is interested in joining in, now is a very good time to do so.
The discounts only apply if you order via the surname project, so make sure you use the join project link (don't worry, you get to read some things first by clicking on that link and aren't automatically committing yourself), on the Sinton project pages
For useful comparisons with other lineages, the minimum test recommended is 37 markers, but 67 would be preferred.
Should you be considering this, and are the first to represent a line, or belong to line where a confirming test is required, there may be a subsidy available. Contact the Project Administrator first if you think this may apply.

Likewise, if you have any questions not answered by the FAQs available on the Sinton project pages or at FamilyTree DNA, please don't hesitate to contact the Project Administrator, as we'd love for you to be reassured that this is a completely harmless process, and you wont have police knocking on your door because of your dna, nor any medical conditions exposed. Those are completely different, much more elaborate tests.

Come and join the fun, the more lines represented the better.

27th: Check out the updates

I think I've reviewed, updated, all the SINTON data on the dna portal site, so from now on, please report any broken SINTON related links, or better still, find volunteers for the Wanted! lines to participate.
If anyone has any favourite SINTON website links to be added to the SINTON DNA Overview, just let me know.

26th: Requested (yet another) unblock review

Darn spam reviews.
Although I'd requested a second tier personal review of this blog (and a couple of others), that seems not to make any difference, they no sooner get unblocked than they're blocked again.
Another first level request has been made.

18th: Result table updated - ready for new results

No, the next lot of test results aren't yet in, but I've updated the results table to show the existing Lineage 1, and the pending results (Jedburgh & Irish lines).
Confirming tests, from different lines on these new lines would be great, any contenders out there?

Would still love to hear that representatives on some of the other "wanted" lines have joined the project.

Nov 15, 2008: Patriarchs updated

Check out the Patriarchs page for revised descendancy charts that reflect my recent excavations of the Southdean records, old correspondence etc, prompted by the 12/12 match between Stephen (S-3) and both Peter and Lester.

Also included the Irish pedigree of the newest recruit to the project, Bob.

Wish google would hurry up and review the status of this blog and remove the Spam warning!
I requested the review several days ago now, and we're about 5 days over their promised 2-3 days to review.

New lineages added

DNA Projects Portal site updated to include lineages for both of the last two participants (Roy's Jedburgh line and Bob's Irish line).

Also combined the Southdean lineages, and added a brief note about why I've joined the John who married Alison HALL up to James SINTON and Barbara OLIVER of Clesleepeel, and connected Peter (married Janet DONALDSON) up to this latter James' father's assumed first marriage.

12 marker results in for the descendant of John SINTON and Alison HALL (marr. Southdean 1829). And a 12/12 match with descendants of the Southdean family of Peter and Janet (DONALDSON) SINTON.
If only we knew how they connect.

New pedigree added

Added pedigree for the family of William (married Isabella SCOTT) in the hope it may attract a descendant to participate.
William and Isabella were mainly Jedburgh based, with a large number of descendants in New Zealand.

Second kit 25 and 37 marker results posted. 24/25 and 36/37 marker matches between the Southdean SINTON descendants of the two brothers.
In the wider FT DNA database there is a 35/37 match with an ALEXANDER surname which may or may not be of some later interest.
